Poetry. Praise. Passion. Power. Prayer. It’s all there in the Psalms.

It’s PSALM-O-RAMA  2019 here on GUWG where all week we’ll be taking a deeeeep dive into the Book of Psalms.

Let’s start right at the beginning. Here’s a selection from Psalm 1. Memorize it. Marinate in it. Meditate on it.

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord
and who meditates on his law day and night.
(Psalm 1:1-2)

Right off the bat, in the very first sentence, we’re warned about the dangers of sinking into sin.

Note the progression: walking with the wicked standing with ’em … sitting with ’em. Sin has a way of subtly sucking us down until we’re stuck in the muck.

How do you get unstuck? DELIGHT in the law of the Lord. MEDITATE on it day and night. That’s exactly what we’ll do this week.

Got a favorite Psalm you’d like to share with the world? I’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment below, tweet @getupwithgod or email Thanks!

Psalm 100 English Standard Version (ESV)
    His Steadfast Love Endures Forever
    A Psalm for giving thanks.
100 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!

3 Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;[a]
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

    5 For the Lord is good;
    his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
