We’re sitting at Jesus’ feet listening to the greatest sermon ever preached: the Sermon on the Mount.
Yesterday, Jesus taught us how to pray:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Today, we’ll begin a deeeeep dive into each of the 53 words in this model prayer.
We’ll start with the very first word: OUR.
It’s no coincidence that Jesus chose that word to start his prayer.
Prayer is a team sport. We’re not in this alone. We pray together as a community.
Our Father. Our daily bread. Our debts. Our debtors. Give us. Forgive us. Lead us. Deliver us.
Pray through the prayer conscious of the fact that there are literally thousands and thousands and thousands of Christians around the world praying the exact same words at the exact same moment.
Together. As ONE.
It’s a beautiful thing.
