It’s ETERNITY WEEK here on GUWG, where all week long we’re lifting our eyes and looking at things from God’s perspective.

My most frequent prayer consists of one word:

That one little word captures the basic human condition in a nutshell. The Beatles put it this way:

I need somebody
Not just anybody
You know I need someone

When I find myself in times of trouble, the problem usually is one of perspective. I’m looking at things from my tiny little human viewpoint, rather than God’s.

Here’s a great little Psalm that I use to remind myself to stop whining and LOOK UP:

I lift up my eyes to the hills–
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip–
he who watches over you
will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you–
the Lord is your shade
at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you
from all harm–
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over
your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
