Blessed Are the Merciful

GUWG-Hand-HeartsWe continue our 40-day journey deeeeep into the of Jesus.

We’re sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening to the greatest sermon ever preached: the Sermon on the Mount.

The world says: We are the champions — no time for losers. Revenge is sweet. Take no prisoners. Show no mercy.

Jesus says:

Blessed Are Those Who Seek Righteousness

GUWG-Hungry-ThirstyWe continue our 40-day journey deeeeep into the of Jesus.

We’re sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening to the greatest sermon ever preached: the Sermon on the Mount.

The world says: Hunger and thirst for the things of this world. Eat lots of Big Macs. Drink lots of Bud Light. There’s no such thing as “right” and “wrong” anyway.

Jesus says:

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6)

Once again, Jesus turns the world on its head.

Blessed Are Those Who Mourn

GUWG-MournWe continue our 40-day journey deeeeep into the of Jesus.

Jesus began with a provocative look at what it reeeeeally means to be “blessed” with a series of statements known as the Beatitudes.

Here’s today’s selection:

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)

The world says: Pursue happiness.

Jesus says: Blessed are those who mourn.

Blessed Are the Poor in Spirit

GUWG-Poor-in-SpiritWe continue our 40-day journey deeeeep into the of Jesus.

Jesus began with 141 words that turned the world upside-down: the Beatitudes. We prayed through ’em yesterday. Today we’ll start digging a little deeper.

The End

We continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.

Today, we reach the end of the Sermon on the Mount. Here’s how Jesus began his concluding remarks:

Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. (Matthew 7:24-25)

If we listen to Jesus’ words AND put them into practice, he promises us a foundation that can’t be shaken. What happens if we don’t do what he says?
