We’re sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening to the greatest sermon ever preached: the Sermon on the Mount.
For the past several days, we’ve been taking a deeeeep dive into the Beatitudes and what it reeeeeally means to be “blessed.”
Just in case we missed the point somehow, Jesus concluded with a series of woe-full warnings in direct opposition to the world.
The world says: Get rich.
We continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.
We’re in the midst of a series entitled JESUS ON EVERYTHING, where we’re looking at what Jesus said on a wide variety of subjects with a minimum of commentary from me.
Yesterday’s topic was JESUS ON THE POOR. Today’s topic? JESUS ON THE RICH:
How about people who take God at his word?
Here’s just a smattering of what the Bible says about being rich in this world:
Woe to you who are rich. (Luke 6:24)
How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. (Luke 18:24-25)
