Anti-Grumbling Prayer

Here’s a little prayer to conclude NO GRUMBLING WEEK 2019. Thanks to all who participated!

Please forgive me for all my

Grumbling Antidote #5: Rest

It’s NO GRUMBLING WEEK 2019 here on GUWG.

I don’t know about you, but I find that when I’m tired I’m especially prone to grumpiness.

If I were to type the way I feel at those times, there would be lots of CAPITAL LETTERS and UNDERLINING and BOLD FONT and ITALICS, capped off with an excess of EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!! It’s like EVERY LITTLE THING gets MAGNIFIED and BLOWN WAAAAAAAAY OUT OF PROPORTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grumbling Antidote #4: Fill ‘Er Up

It’s NO GRUMBLING WEEK 2019 here on GUWG.

Ever feel like you’re running on empty?

I find that I’m most prone to grumble when I try to navigate life under my own power. Here’s what we get when we let our sinful nature take the wheel:

fits of rage
selfish ambition
and much much more
(Galatians 5:20-21)

Grumbling Antidote #3: Praise

It’s NO GRUMBLING WEEK 2019 here on GUWG.

Whenever you feel like griping, groaning or grousing, search the Psalms. They’re packed with praise:

The Lord lives!
Praise be to my Rock!
Exalted be God my Savior!
(Psalm 18:46)

Grumbling Antidote #2: Contentment

It’s NO GRUMBLING WEEK 2019 here on GUWG. Here’s today’s anti-whining Bible selection:

Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. (1 Timothy 6:6-8)

A big source of my grumbling is that I want stuff I don’t have. Here’s a conversation I have far too often with myself:

He has a cool ___________.
Why can’t I?
Grumble. Whine. Complain.

Grumbling Antidote #1: Thankfulness

Yesterday, we officially kicked off NO GRUMBLING WEEK 2019 here on GUWG.

We started off with a pair of Bible verses that make it clear that grumbling, whining and complaining are bad things. We then issued a challenge: we asked all of our grumble-prone readers to (1) pinch themselves every time they feel a grumble coming on and instead (2) recite one of the verses.

No Grumbling Week

Do everything without complaining or arguing. (Philippians 2:14)

Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. (James 5:9)

It’s time again for our annual NO GRUMBLING WEEK here on GUWG.

I’ve been doing waaaaay too much griping, groaning, grouching and grousing lately. Don’t be like me. Please join all of us here on GUWG by reciting the official …
