It’s SHEEPISHNESS WEEK here on GUWG where all week long we’re looking at sheep-ish verses from the Bible.
As we discussed yesterday, in the Bible us peeps are compared to sheep more often than any other animal. Unfortunately — like us — sheep just ain’t that smart and tend to get into all kinds of trouble when they wander off on their own.
Here’s a great verse to memorize (it even rhymes):
We all like sheep,
have gone astray,
each of us has turned
to our own way.
(Isaiah 53:6)
Or, as a wise old proverb says:
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. (Proverbs 14:12)
Or, as the Apostle Paul puts it:
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
Does that mean that all us sheep are doomed to a life of mindless meandering? Not at all. Jesus — our Great Shepherd — will lead us home if we follow Him. Here it is in His own words:
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28)
The message is simple, O sheep-ish ones. Stop wandering. Follow Jesus. Now. Seriously. Please.
