Satan’s First Question

“Did God really say …?”
(Genesis 3:1)

Adam and Eve were hanging out in the Garden of Eden. All was good.

But then Satan entered the picture and whispered that little question into Eve’s ear. It’s one he’s been whispering to us ever since.

Satan’s plan was – and is — simple: to get us to question God in our hearts.

Once Adam & Eve started questioning God in their hearts it wasn’t long until they started questioning God in their actions. They did the one and only thing God told ‘em not to do. They sinned, they were ashamed and they tried to hide from God. Not a great plan.

Here’s what the Bible says:

Trust God 100%.
Trust Satan 0%.

It tells us “trust in the Lord with all our heart” (Proverbs 3:5) and “blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord” (Jeremiah 17:7) and “whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe” (Proverbs 29:25) and “trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord is the rock eternal” (Isaiah 26:4).

Here’s what it says about Satan: “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)

Satan LOVES it when we question God’s Word. Did He really say “love your enemies”? Did He really say “go and make disciples of all nations”? Did He really say “surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”?

Tomorrow we’ll take a look at God’s first question. Until then …

LISTEN TO GOD
IGNORE SATAN
