When you pray, do you ever find yourself getting distracted?

You know, you start off with a hearty “Our Father” and maybe even a “who art in heaven” but then your mind starts to drift off to all the stuff you gotta do and then maybe some dumb 70s song that’s stuck in your head and then maybe sports and then …

Wait, where was I?

This week on GUWG our topic will be PRAYER FOR THE EASILY DISTRACTED (like me) where we’ll be using this handy little acronym to help keep us all focused:

A = Adoration
C = Confession
T = Thanksgiving
S = Supplication

Today’s focus: ADORATION. It’s a great place to start.

When was the last time you truly adored God? Not just think about or contemplate but ADORE?

Adoration is all over the Bible. Ask the Spirit to help you pray through these verses with an attitude of awe:

Praise the Lord, O my soul;
all my inmost being,
praise his holy name.
(Psalm 103:1)

When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man
that you are mindful of him,
the son of man
that you care for him?
(Psalm 8:3-4)

I praise you because
I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
(Psalm 139:14)

I will exalt you, my God the King;
I will praise your name
for ever and ever.
(Psalm 145:1)

Now it’s your turn. Fill in the blank:

Dear God,
I adore you because ______________.
