Honor Mom and Dad

Honor your father and mother — which is the first commandment with a promise — that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. (Ephesians 6:2)

Hug your mom today. Call your dad. Hug your dad tomorrow. Call your mom. Repeat.

Treat your parents with honor and respect. Spend time with them. Listen to them. LOVE them.

Note that there’s no asterisk or legal disclaimer indicating that this commandment ceases to apply once the child hits 18. It’s a life-long commitment. So, whether you’re 7 or 57:

HONOR
YOUR
PARENTS
TODAY

Just turned 65 today, fortunately my 82 yr old mother is still active and healthy, God has been good to both of us. I tell her “I love you” everytime I speak with her, how fortunate my simple blessings are.

Thanks for sharing that, Michael — warmed my heart! My dad’s in his 80s and my mom’s not far behind. I can see now more clearly the blessings to us (and them) a simple “I love you” brings. Now that I have grown kids of my own, I’m more aware than ever how much those little words mean coming from one of your offspring.

    Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
