WORDS WEEK

It’s WORDS WEEK here on GUWG, where all week we’ll wade into the wealth of wisdom woven into the Word about the way we wield words in this world.

Question: According to experts, what’s the #1 cause of failure in relationships, business, medicine, politics, war and maybe even religion?

The answer? Crummy communication. We don’t wield words wisely.

You may have noticed that there has been an absolute communication explosion in recent years. I just typed in the word “communication” on Google and got more than a billion hits. There are 261,346 communication books on Amazon.com. We sent more than 100 trillion e-mails in the past year. Twitter has been around for only 5 years and already we’ve sent more than 25 billion tweets. Facebook has nearly a billion users sharing private intimate communications with people they don’t even know. The average teenager now sends 3,399 texts each month. But it’s not just teenagers – studies show a rapid increase in texting even by octogenarians.

So, is all this communication making life better?

The answer is a resounding NO. In study after study, Americans report being more depressed and disconnected than ever before.

Our goal this week is to change all that … one word at a time.

We’ll start where we should always start: with words straight from the mouth of Jesus.

Meditate on those words a moment. Marinate in ‘em. Memorize ‘em.

And then ask God to fill your ♥ to overflowing with his love, joy and peace. Please don’t open your mouth until you do.
