The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
And after the fire came a gentle whisper …
(1 Kings 19:11-12)
Sometimes we surround ourselves with so much noise that we have trouble hearing God’s gentle whispers. Don’t let that happen to you today.
Shut off the TV. Unplug the computer.
Get alone. Take a deep breath.
Tune out the world.
Tune in to God.
Listen.

So true! Technology has advanced certain aspects of our lives, but it certainly gets in the way of our time with God.
I know, technology has hindered my walk with God in the past. Now I make it a point that unless I am using a concordance online or my YouVersion, my technology is off, ringer off, and music either very low where I can’t understand the words or off completely while I am praying to the Father and spending time in His Word.
Thanks for the comments, Diana and Lanie. Couldn’t agree more. I let technology sidetrack me waaaaaaay too often.
