We continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.
For the past several days, we did a deeeeep dive into the Beatitudes. Just in case we missed the point somehow, Jesus concluded with a series of woe-full warnings in direct opposition to the world.
The world says: Get rich.
Jesus says:
Woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. (Luke 6:24)
The world says: Eat well.
Jesus says:
Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. (Luke 6:25a)
The world says: Be happy.
Jesus says:
Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. (Luke 6:25b)
The world says: Be popular.
Jesus says:
Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets. (Luke 6:26)
Listen to Jesus, not the world.
