What Do You Want?

GUWG-Question-SignWe kicked off the year with our official 2020 GUWG resolution:

We’re examining every single syllable uttered by Jesus in the Gospels. Today’s topic: Jesus’ First Followers.

John the Baptist was hanging out with some of his followers. Jesus passed by, prompting John to shout, “Look — the Lamb of God!”

When John’s followers heard this, they started following Jesus. Here’s what happened next, according to eyewitness accounts.

Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”

They said, “Teacher, where are you staying?”

“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”

So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him.

(John 1:35-39)

What if Jesus were to ask you that question? What do YOU want? Happiness? Comfort? Security? Stuff? Power? Fame?

Or do you want … Jesus?

What if Jesus were to say to you right now, “Come”? Would you?

What if his disciples had said, “Naaah … not right now — we’re busy”?

Thankfully they didn’t. They put aside whatever they were doing and spent the day with the Creator of the Universe.

When was the last time you spent a whole day with Jesus?

Why not do that right now?

There’s no better place to be.
