People were bringing little children to Jesus. The disciples rebuked ’em, ignoring what Jesus taught here.
Jesus didn’t like that. He called the children to him and said:
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
(Matthew 19:13-15; Mark 10:13-16; Luke 18:15-17)
I love the images in this tender little story: Jesus calling little kids to himself, gathering ’em up in his arms and blessing ’em. What a beautiful picture.
Want to enter God’s Kingdom? Receive it like a little child. Come running to Jesus and he’ll open his arms wide, bless you and welcome you in.
