We continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.
We’re taking a look at what Jesus said about a variety of absolutely critical, life-altering subjects in his own words with a minimum of commentary from me.
Today we start delving into JESUS ON SALVATION.
We’ll start with a selection of verses from John’s Gospel. Meditate on ’em. Marinate in ’em. Memorize ’em.
No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. No one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. (John 3:3-8)
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:16-18)
Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. (John 5:24-25)
A time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out — those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. (John 5:28-29)
My Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. (John 6:40)
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. (John 6:44)
The one who believes has eternal life. (John 6:47)
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, they will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. (John 6:51)
Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but the one who feeds on this bread will live forever. (John 6:53-58)
If anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. (John 8:51)
I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. (John 10:7-9)
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28)
I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this? (John 11:25-26)
In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am.” (John 14:1-3)
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:2-3)
Tune in tomorrow for Part 2.
