We continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.
We recently started a new series: JESUS ON …
We’ll be taking a look at what Jesus said about a variety of absolutely critical, life-altering subjects in his own words with a minimum of commentary from me.
Today’s topic? JESUS ON LOVE.
Here is a greatest hits collection of verses straight from the mouth of Jesus on the topic of love. Meditate on ’em. Marinate in ’em. Memorize ’em.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. (Matthew 22:37-40)
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:34-35)
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. (Luke 6:27-28)
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:9-13)
