Jesus on Heaven

GUWG-Kingdom-of-HeavenWe continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.

We’re in the midst of a series entitled JESUS ON EVERYTHING, where we’re looking at what Jesus said on a wide variety of subjects with a minimum of commentary from me.

Today’s topic: HEAVEN. Here are some heavenly declarations straight from the mouth of Jesus:

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near. (Matthew 4:17)

Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:19)

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:3, 10)

This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be year name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10)

Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21)

Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles themselves like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3-4)

Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. (Matthew 19:14)

If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. (Matthew 19:21)

It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. (Matthew 19:23-24)

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. (Matthew 25:31-32)

Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. (Matthew 25:34-40)

When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. (Mark 12:25)

Do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. (Luke 10:20)

There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. (Luke 15:7)

I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven — the Son of Man. (John 3:12-13)

It is not Moses who has given you the bread of heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. (John 6:32-33)

I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, they will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give it for the life of the world. (John 6:48-51)

In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:2-3)
