As they were walking along the road, one of the religious leaders came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
Jesus gave this rather thought-provoking reply:
Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.
Then Jesus said to another man:
But the man replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
So Jesus said to him:
Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.
Then another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”
No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.
(Matthew 8:19-22; Luke 9:57-62)
Let’s look at our 2 BIG Questions:
1. Who exactly is Jesus?
He’s the one and only leader truly worth following.
2. What exactly does he want us to do?
Drop whatever we’re doing and follow him NOW — without excuses, without looking back, no matter the cost and no matter where he leads us.
