We’re attempting to answer the question What exactly are Christians supposed to do? by looking at commands straight from the mouth of Jesus.
Jesus gave this rather simple command:
That prompted one man to say, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
Here’s how Jesus responded:
Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.
Then another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”
No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.
(Matthew 8:19-22; Luke 9:57-62)
Drop whatever we’re doing and follow Jesus NOW — no excuses, no looking back, no matter the cost and no matter where he leads.
