Do What Jesus Says

GUWG-Love-One-AnotherWe continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.

We started here with Jesus’ first recorded words and finished yesterday with his last.

But we’re not done. Far from it.

One question we’ve been asking ourselves at every step in our journey is: What exactly does Jesus want us to do?

Starting today we’ll be reviewing Jesus’ answer to that question by examining his commands in chronological order from start to finish.

How important is it to follow Jesus’ commands? Here’s what he said:

If you love me, keep my commands. (John 14:15)

Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. (John 14:21)

If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:31-32)

Personally, I suffer from two problems when it comes to obeying Jesus’ commands:

1.  I don’t know them.
2.  I don’t always like to obey.

To help you not be like me, please join us for the next several weeks as we take a deeeeep dive into Jesus’ official “to do” list. As we go, never ever forget that we’re never ever alone in this endeavor. The Holy Spirit is available to assist us 24/7/365.

To kick things off, we’ll start with Jesus’ BIG 2 COMMANDS:

1.  Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
2.  Love your neighbor as yourself.

As Jesus said, “There is no commandment greater than these” and “all the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40; Mark 12:28-34)

Roll the BIG 2 around in your soul all day today. And then tune in tomorrow as we begin our exploration of 50 commands straight from the mouth of Jesus that show what it reeeeeally means to love God and others.
