We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
“Every time a bad thought pops into my head, I take it captive to Jesus and then it’s gone — bing!“
Those are the words of a wonderful older gentleman who attends a Sunday School class I help teach. He’s mostly quiet but each week you can count on him bing-ing in at some point with the above words of wisdom.
Try it today. Every time a bad thought pops in your head, bing it to Jesus.
Bad sexual thoughts while you’re watching TV? Bing ’em to Jesus. Hateful thoughts about that annoying co-worker in the next cube? Bing ’em to Jesus. Envious thoughts about someone who’s got something you don’t? Bing ’em to Jesus.
The verse immediately preceding the one quoted above says: The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (2 Corinthians 10:4)
Use all the weapons at your disposal. Bad actions often start with bad thoughts. Ask Jesus to demolish your bad thoughts before they grow into something worse.
