You have your choice between two rides:
- The first features 1 second of awesomeness followed by 999,999,999 gazillion years of pain.
- The second offers 1 second of pain followed by 999,999,999 gazillion years of awesomeness.
Which would you choose?
It sounds crazy, but the first ride is basically what gazillions of humans choose. They live as if the here and now is all there is. Over and over and over they choose the momentary me-first sinful pleasures of this world without giving a moment’s thought to future consequences like pain, relational damage and eternal separation from God.
Here’s what the Bible says:
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14)
Our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (2 Corinthians 4:17)
Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:16)
God’s message is clear.
Life on this planet is short. Eternity is long. Live like it.
