We continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.
We’re in the midst of a series entitled JESUS ON EVERYTHING, where we’re looking at what Jesus said on a wide variety of subjects with a minimum of commentary from me.
Today’s topic? JESUS ON THE POOR:
The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. (Luke 4:18-19)
Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. (Luke 6:20-21)
Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. (Luke 6:30-31)
Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. (Matthew 25:40)
