Cool Down

We started off the year with our official 2013 Spiritual Workout to help us all trim our spiritual flabbiness and train for the Big Race.

To review, here are the key verses:

Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12)

Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life, and the life to come. (1 Timothy 4:7-8)

Here’s a quick review:

Ready? Set! Resssssst.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-30)

We started off the year with GUWG’s official 2013 Spiritual Workout to help us all train for the Big Race.

Physical trainers will tell you that any workout plan will be doomed to fail if it doesn’t incorporate today’s piece: REST.

Feeling tired? Stressed? Overwhelmed? You don’t have to.

Tell Everyone. Now. Please.

Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. (Mark 16:15)

We kicked off the year with the official GUWG 2013 Spiritual Workout to help us all train for the Big Race.

Today’s topic? TELL everyone the good news.

If there’s one piece of this workout that freaks me out, it’s this one. I love Jesus. But if I’m honest, sometimes I’m afraid to tell others because I fear that maybe they won’t like me so much anymore. It sounds absolutely 187% pathetic but it’s true.

Get Together

We’re kicking off the year with the official GUWG 2013 Spiritual Workout to help us all train for the Big Race.

Today’s topic? HANG with other believers.

I love these verses:

For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them. (Matthew 18:20)

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

When I look back over my life, most of the stupid stuff I did happened when I was alone. God knows that we’re weakest when we’re by ourselves — that’s why he designed other human beings.

Consider the Trinity for a moment. It’s a beautiful picture of how relationships are supposed to be. Father, Son and Holy Spirit — three people who live in such a tight, loving community that they’re truly ONE.

It’s a love party. God loves to hang out with us. And God loves it when we hang out with others. Our relationships should reflect the love and unity that’s in the Trinity. So …

GET TOGETHER!

Go FAST

We started off the year with our official 2013 Spiritual Workout Plan to help us all train for the Big Race.

Today’s topic? FAST from dumb stuff.

Here’s today’s Bible dose:

Love, Love, Love

Earlier this week, we unveiled the official GUWG 2013 Spiritual Workout Plan to help us all prepare for the Big Race.

Today’s topic? LOVE.

Some religious scholars asked Jesus:

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?

His reply changed the world forever. He said:

Do What He Says

Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. (Matthew 7:24-25)

We’re kicking off the year here on GUWG with the official 2013 Spiritual Workout Plan to help us all prepare for the Big Race.

Today’s topic is Part 2 of the BIBLE circle in our diagram. Part 1 was READ THE BIBLE. Part 2? DO WHAT IT SAYS.
