Ready? Set! Resssssst.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-30)

We started off the year with GUWG’s official 2013 Spiritual Workout to help us all train for the Big Race.

Physical trainers will tell you that any workout plan will be doomed to fail if it doesn’t incorporate today’s piece: REST.

Feeling tired? Stressed? Overwhelmed? You don’t have to.

NO WORRIES WEEK

Unplug. Unwind. Un-whatever-it-is-you’re-doing.

Take a deeeeeeeeep breath and spend the next few moments with our Heavenly Father pondering what is perhaps the world’s most beloved psalm. Let each word seep deep into your soul, fill your mind and quiet your heart.

NO WORRIES WEEK

Tired?  Stressed? Overwhelmed?

You don’t have to be. Here’s what Jesus said:

PSALM-O-RAMA: Rest

It’s PSALM-O-RAMA 2012 here on GUWG where all week long we’ll be taking a deep dive into the Book of Psalms.

Unplug. Unwind. Un-whatever-it-is-you’re-doing.

If you’re at all like me, you don’t spend nearly enough time resting in God. Take a deeeeeeeeeeeep breath and spend the next few moments with our Heavenly Father pondering what is perhaps the world’s most beloved psalm. Let each word seep deep into your soul, fill your mind and quiet your heart.

Happy Labor Day!

Take a break from all your labor. Now. Seriously. Please.

Listen to Jesus:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

Grumbling Antidote #5: Rest

It’s NO GRUMBLING WEEK here on GUWG.

I don’t know about you, but I find that when I’m tired I’m especially prone to grumpiness.

If I were to type the way I feel at those times, there would be lots of CAPITAL LETTERS and UNDERLINING and BOLD FONT and ITALICS, capped off with an excess of EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!! It’s like EVERY LITTLE THING gets MAGNIFIED and BLOWN WAAAAAAAAY OUT OF PROPORTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be a Sheep

Unplug. Unwind. Un-whatever-it-is-you’re-doing.

Spend the next few moments with our Great Shepherd pondering what is perhaps the world’s most beloved psalm. Let each word seep deep into your soul, fill your mind and quiet your heart.

The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

(Psalm 23)
