This week we’re focusing on prayer for the easily distracted (like me), using this handy little acronym as a guide:

A = Adoration
C = Confession
T = Thanksgiving
S = Supplication

Yesterday, we started with Adoration. Today, we’re looking at CONFESSION.

When you pray, do you ever find yourself getting distracted?

You know, you start off with a hearty “Our Father” and maybe even a “who art in heaven” but then your mind starts to drift off to all the stuff you gotta do and then maybe some dumb 70s song that’s stuck in your head and then maybe sports and then …

Wait, where was I?

Sunday Solitude

Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:16)

Be like Jesus. Get alone with your Heavenly Father right now and pray.

Here’s today’s prayer suggestion. Pray through it with all your heart, soul and mind.

God Is God (And I’m Not)

Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. (Luke 22:42)

If I’m brutally honest, my prayers often have this overall theme: “Not your will, God, but MINE.” They usually consist of two parts: (1) listing all the things that didn’t go my way that day and (2) asking God to make ’em go my way the next.

But a Breath

Show me, O Lord,
my life’s end
and the number of my days;
let me know how fleeting my life is.
You have made my days
a mere handbreath;
the span of my years
is nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure.
