Yesterday, Jesus taught us how to pray. Today, he expands on that teaching:
Today’s question: Was Jesus demon-possessed or Spirit-led? You be the judge:
They brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see. All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”
To me, there’s nothing more comforting than today’s words from Jesus:
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Galatians 6:8-10)
It’s NO GRUMBLING WEEK 2015 here on GUWG.
Ever feel like you’re running on empty?
I find that I’m most prone to grumble when I try to navigate life under my own power. Here’s what we get when we let our sinful nature take the wheel:
fits of rage
and much much more
What exactly are spiritual gifts? Great question. The Bible warns us not to be “ignorant” about this topic (1 Corinthians 12:1). In short, they are God-given abilities designed to build up the church today.
Our final featured fruit: SELF-CONTROL.
Right before the Bible lists the fruit of the Spirit, it spells out in graphic detail the “fruit” of our uncontrolled sinful selves: drunkenness, sexual immorality, idolatry, hatred, rage and various other forms of discord, dissension and debauchery.
