The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 9:10)
Want to get smart? Here’s where to start:
FEAR GOD
Put another way, if you don’t fear God, you’re dumb. It’s that simple.
Over and over the Bible tells us: “Do not be afraid.”
But are we listening?
Apparently not. There are now more than 500 documented phobias in the world. There’s arachibutyrophobia (fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth), autophobia (fear of yourself), catabedephobia (fear of both high and low places), chorophobia (fear of dancing), coulrophobia (fear of clowns), homilophobia (fear of sermons), myxophobia (fear of slime) and panophobia (fear of everything). There’s even phobefobia (fear of phobias).
Here’s an awesome Psalm for times of trouble. Memorize it. Meditate on it. Marinate in it.
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore, we will not fear,
though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
(Psalm 46:1-3, 10a)
Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared. (Proverbs 3:25-26)
The equation is simple:
KNOW GOD = NO FEAR
There’s no need to fear anything in this world. Don’t freak out. Never panic. God is infinitely bigger than anything we can possibly face on this planet and He’s here to help us every step of the way. Walk with Him today.
