Believe it or not, 94,179 people are watching this right now.
A live camera feed from a nest where three baby eaglets just hatched has captured the attention of seemingly every human on the planet — including my wife. More than 30 million people have tuned in so far.
Yesterday, as we were doing a little Bible reading together, I found myself getting distracted by cute little chirping sounds coming from her computer. Just as I was about to ask her to shut it off, we came across this passage:
He shielded him and cared for him;
he guarded him as the apple of his eye,
like an eagle that stirs up its nest
and hovers over its young,
that spreads its wing to catch them
and carries them on its pinions.
Even in seemingly irrelevant Internet-ishness, God is there teaching us lessons. As my wife and I watched, the mother eagle gently stirred up her nest, hovered over her helpless little fuzzballs and then hunkered down to shelter ’em under her mighty wings. It’s a beautiful picture of God’s love for us.
Here’s another eagle-themed verse for your consideration:
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
God is everywhere. Look for Him. Seek his shelter. Let Him strengthen you. And then SOAR with Him.
