Blessed Are Those Who Seek Righteousness

GUWG-Hungry-ThirstyWe continue our 40-day journey deeeeep into the of Jesus.

We’re sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening to the greatest sermon ever preached: the Sermon on the Mount.

The world says: Hunger and thirst for the things of this world. Eat lots of Big Macs. Drink lots of Bud Light. There’s no such thing as “right” and “wrong” anyway.

Jesus says:

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6)

Once again, Jesus turns the world on its head.

Blessed Are the Meek

GUWG-SheepWe continue our 40-day journey deeeeep into the ♥ of Jesus.

We’re looking at what Jesus said about what it reeeeeally means to be “blessed” with a series of statements known as the Beatitudes.

Here’s today’s selection:

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)

The world says: Only the strong survive. The proud rule. Nice guys finish last.

Why on earth would Jesus say that?

The Greatest Sermon Ever Preached

GUWG-BlessedWe continue our journey through every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW.

For the next 40 days we’ll be sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening to the greatest sermon ever preached in the history of the universe: The Sermon on the Mount.

Let’s set the stage …

Here’s what the Bible says happened right before he started to preach:

Jesus vs. The World

I love how Jesus turns the world on its head . . .

How does he view the poor? Blessed.

The hungry? Blessed.

The mourners? The hated? The excluded? The insulted? The rejected? Blessed. Blessed. Blessed. Blessed. Blessed.

What does he say about the rich? Woe.

The comfortable? Woe.

The well fed? Those who laugh now? Those who are celebrated?
Woe. Woe. Woe.

What should we do to our enemies? Love ’em.

What if someone mistreats us? Pray for ’em.

What if someone smacks us in the face? Turn the other cheek.

What if someone steals from us? Give ’em more.
