Blessed

PRAYER-O-RAMA 2013 continues here on GUWG, where all week we’ll be praying through some of the most inspiring sections of Scripture together.

Today, we’ll pray through 141 words that turned the world on its head: THE BEATITUDES from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.

Want to be blessed? Ask the Holy Spirit to burn these words deep into your soul and to change your heart forever.

Pray the Beatitudes

We continue our 40-day journey with Jesus to the Cross and beyond.

Today, we’ll conclude our deep dive into the Beatitudes right where we started: by praying through each and every syllable. Ask the Holy Spirit to drive these precious words deeeeep into your soul and to change your heart forever.

Woe Woe Woe Woe

We continue our 40-day journey with Jesus to the Cross and beyond.

For the past several days, we did a deeeeep dive into the Beatitudes. Just in case we missed the point somehow, Jesus concluded with a series of woe-full warnings in direct opposition to the world.

The world says: Get rich.

Jesus says:

Woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. (Luke 6:24)

The world says: Eat well.

Jesus says:

Blessed Are The Persecuted?

We continue our 40-day journey with Jesus to the Cross ad beyond with a deep dive into the Beatitudes.

The world says: Do the right thing as long as it’s not inconvenient or painful.

Jesus says:

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:10)

He then added a bonus beatitude:

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:11-12)

He later said:

If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. (John 15:20)

Here’s a question: Are you being persecuted? If not, why not? Don’t you want to be blessed?

Blessed Are The Peacemakers?

We continue our 40-day journey with Jesus to the Cross and beyond with a deep dive into the Beatitudes.

The world says: Revenge is sweet. Fight back. Retaliate.

Jesus says:

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. (Matthew 5:9)

Galatians 5 describes in graphic detail what life looks like with and without the Spirit:

  • Life without the Spirit includes discord, factions, hatred and rage.
  • Life with the Spirit includes love, joy and PEACE.

The devil loves troublemakers. God loves peacemakers.

Blessed Are The Pure?

We continue our 40-day journey with Jesus to the Cross and beyond with a deep dive into the Beatitudes.

The world says: Purity is boring and outdated. Sex sells. There’s no such thing as sin. Anything goes.

Jesus says:

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (Matthew 5:8)

Blessed Are The Merciful?

We continue our 40-day journey with Jesus to the Cross and beyond with a deep dive into the Beatitudes.

The world says: We are the champions — no time for losers. Revenge is sweet. Take no prisoners. Show no mercy.

Jesus says:
