The Bible In One Verb

It’s Stamp Out Bible Illiteracy Gently (SOBIG) Week here on GUWG.

We started with a little quiz to assess your Bible literacy. Then we dove into how to get more Bibleishness into your life. Yesterday, we started looking at the BIG picture of the Bible by boiling it down to one noun: JESUS.

Today, we boil it down to one verb. Here it is:

LOVE

We talk about this all the time here on GUWG, but you can never ever ever get enough love.

When Jesus was asked to name the absolute #1 rule in the universe, here’s what he said:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and the greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:37-38)

Then he added this:

And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. (Matthew 22:39-40)

So, here’s the Bible in five words …

LOVE GOD.
LOVE OTHERS.
REPEAT.
