Recent surveys suggest that Christians spend shockingly little time with the Bible:
- less than half have read it all the way through
- less than 4 in 10 read it on a weekly basis
- only 1 in 6 read it daily
- only 1 in 7 regularly apply it to their lives
I’m ashamed to admit that I was on the wrong side of those stats for many years. As a direct result, I made looooots of dumb decisions and maaaaany stupid mistakes.
Don’t let that happen to you. Open up your Bible and listen to what our heavenly father has to say:
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding . . .
Then you will understand what is right and just and fair – every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. (Proverbs 2:1-6, 9-11)
