We’re kicking off the year with our official 2017 Spiritual Workout to help us all prepare for the Big Race.
Today’s topic? LISTEN TO GOD.
There are a whoooole lot of increasingly loud voices competing for our attention in this world. Tune ’em out and tune in to God.
Listen to these words from the Bible:
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4)
Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (Romans 10:17)
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. (John 10:27-28)
The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)
To repeat …
All Scripture is God-breathed and useful. God’s words give life. Faith comes from hearing. Listen to Jesus’ voice and follow him. The Holy Spirit teaches and reminds us of everything Jesus said.
One great way to hear God’s voice is to pray through the Bible. Here are dozens of different Bible-reading plans for your perusal. According to Bible scholars, it should take the average person between 15-30 minutes a day to read the entire Bible in a year. So, turn away from life’s distracting voices, crack open a Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to help you hear God.
