Yesterday, I posted my favorite Bible verse and asked y’all to send in yours. As they continue to roll in, I thought it might be interesting to post what some famous folks said their favorite verses were.
Here’s the first selection …
At the Civil Rights Museum in Montgomery, Alabama, there’s a monument dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and all those who have struggled for racial equality in America. The monument is a circular slab of granite over which flows a gentle, never-ending stream. Above it appears Dr. King’s favorite verse:
Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! (Amos 5:24)
Read those words again. Soak in ‘em. Let ‘em seep deep into your soul. And then ask God to help you be a person who passionately pursues justice and righteousness. It just might change the world.

Some Questions that I like to challenge listeners with when i share this verse:
-Do you believe in Jesus? (Not just that He exists, or is a good man, but that He is the Son of God sent to give you life now, and forever?)
-What has Jesus been doing? (read the gospels . . . proclaims the Good News, brings healing to the sick, sets the prisoners free)
-Do you know anyone who needs to hear the Good News? Who is sick and could use healing? Who is in bondage or being held prisoner by something?
-What might the “greater things than these be” that Jesus is equipping you to be and do through the Holy Spirit? (note the context of John 14-17)
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
